From 19 to 21 November 2025, KITAMBAA and the Association for the Retention of Girls in School (AMFE), with the support of the King Baudouin Foundation, conducted a series of activities in Agnam as part of the project 'MENSTRUATION. LET'S TALK ABOUT IT!'

The mission mobilised 95 local stakeholders; administrative authorities, community and religious leaders, teachers, community liaison officers and women's groups. Three major activities were carried out:

Briefing workshop on the consultation framework

The workshop marked a turning point in the structuring of community advocacy. Participants gained a clear understanding of the role, missions and strategic importance of the consultation framework, and the dynamic exchanges made it possible to draw out several key results.

  • Strong commitment from members to advocate with local authorities;
  • Identification of priority actions to improve menstrual hygiene management in the area;
  • Implementation of concrete measures such as:
  • The drafting and transmission of memoranda to the four municipalities
  • The sending of correspondence to local authorities to improve school sanitary facilities;
  • A plea for access to menstrual products in schools
  • A plea for water supply to the CEM of Toulel Thiale.

Community Dialogue

Organised in the village of Bagondé, in the heart of Diéry, the community dialogue made it possible to reach communities often distant from spaces of exchange.

The results were particularly striking:

  • Participants strengthened their knowledge on health and menstrual hygiene;
  • Often silent voices emerged: men, young people, village chief, imam, all spoke up and contributed to deconstructing stereotypes;
  • A collective awareness has been established regarding the risks associated with poor menstrual hygiene management;
  • Despite women's limited participation in discussions, which reflects social norms, the activity opened the way to better female inclusion in future discussions.

Formation on menstrual health and functioning of the Dingiral Rewbe space

The training made it possible to strengthen the participants' knowledge regarding menstrual health and hygiene and to present them with how the Dingiral Rewbe space operates.

The main results of this activity include:

  • Better control of the menstrual cycle, physiological changes and good hygiene practices;
  • Participants now capable of duplicating the training in their communities, thereby strengthening the project's impact;
  • An excellent understanding of how the Dingiral Rewbe kiosk works, considered as a space for women's empowerment and leadership;
  • The decision to establish a kiosk management committee, ensuring the sustainability, organisation and vitality of the space.
