In Africa, and particularly in Senegal, women and girls face enormous difficulties during their periods. According to statistics published by the Ministry of National Education in 2013.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
    \n
  • More than half of primary schools lacked sanitation facilities. 52% of schools had no toilets, and 59% had no access to water.<\/li>\n
  • 40% of girls aged 9 to 17 missed school at least once a week whenever they had their period, due to a lack of sanitation infrastructure.<\/li>\n
  • This absenteeism negatively affects academic performance. In some cases,\u00a0<\/span>girls (11.2%) drop out of school because of the challenges they face during their periods.<\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n
  • Women lose 40\u201345% of their income during these five days.<\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
