Launch of the 'LET'S TALK ABOUT MENSTRUATION!' project in the departments of Vélingara and Agnam
As part of the launch of the project 'MENSTRUATION.LET'S TALK ABOUT IT!' financed by the King Baudouin Foundation, a diagnostic mission and project presentation team travelled to Agnam and to Vélingara to meet local administrative and customary authorities as well as technical services. During this mission, the focus was on establishing contact with local stakeholders and sharing the project's intervention priorities with them, namely: the deconstruction of taboos; advocacy for the adoption of gender-sensitive policies, and the economic empowerment of women through the concept 'Képparù Jiggen Yi'; these diagnostic missions made it possible to reach 91 stakeholders including 39 women. The mission made it possible to:
– To present the project to the administrative, religious and customary authorities;
– To develop an operational action plan for the months to come;
– De poser les bases d’une stratégie de communication communautaire inclusive.
Les autorités locales ont salué la démarche participative et ont exprimé leur engagement à soutenir les actions du projet, notamment à travers la mise en place d’un comité de plaidoyer local.
